SHOW: Children from Rathmore will perform their production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ this weekend.
There’s something magical brewing in the air in Rathmore this weekend as the local children take to the stage for their latest show.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the children of Rathmore will perform their production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at 7.30pm.
And then on Sunday they’ll once again take to the stage for their 3pm matinee.
41 children are involved in this year’s production and they have been rehearsing hard over the past six months in aid of ‘The Children of Chernobyl – Rathmore branch’.
Joanna Hughes and Sheilann Moynihan, who are producing the show, said this week that all the children are very excited.
“The excitement and anticipation is through the roof,” Joanna said. “This is not one to be missed!”
Dorothy is played by Ciara Hughes with her fun loving Aunt Em played by Clodagh O’Callaghan.
The scarecrow – Sarah Cronin, Tin man – Caoimhe Reddington and Lion – Kaylee O’Leary are a laugh a minute with their antics never ending, she added.
“Although Jennifer Buckley scares us all as the bad witch, it is balanced up with the good witches, Maura O’Sullivan and Aine Moriarty.
“Having met the gatekeeper Abbey Mai O’Sullivan, woodlander – Rhia Fitzgerald and the Chamberlain Rachel McAuliffe on the way, their swift return home was helped by the wizard – Aoibinn O’Connell and the royal wedding of the princess – Katie Doherty and Prince – Lauren Horan closes the show to the melodies of Spice Girls hit songs – sure to get everyone up dancing for the closing chorus.”
