The night was very exciting, the talent tremendous, with over 400 entertained at the Rathmore Ravens Basketball Club ‘Lip Sinc Kids’ contest.
Over 50 local children formed nine acts and took to the stage in the Heights Hotel, Killarney on Saturday, May 11 as the club also celebrated its 10thanniversary.
The winners, the Wee Paddies, did their research and charmed the two surprise judges into victory.
They presented Kerry footballer Paul Murphy with a replica Sam Maguire Cup and a bunch of roses to Mary Hickey, the 2014 Kerry Rose.
The earned their victory by performing ‘Tell Me Ma’ and a Riverdance routine.
The Peoples’ Vote went to Rathmore Dynamos who performed their version of ‘Momma Mia’.
“It was a fantastic community occasion,” Lorraine Dineen of Rathmore Ravens Basketball Club said. “The fact that so many people turned up shows how much the basketball club means to the area.”
Rathmore Ravens has over 180 members registered and the club is renowned, in particular for the strength and skill of its juvenile teams. This season they also launched a senior men’s team which has been a fantastic addition to the club with the senior stars playing in front of huge home crowds.
This fundraising event will help to meet the costs of running the club and supporting and developing players to the highest level.
