One little Killarney boy is overwhelmed and very excited to this week learn that he will appear as a book reviewer on this year’s Late Late Toy Show.
Rian Gleeson (7) from Artygallivan, found out on Tuesday that he has been selected by RTE to appear in front of millions of viewers on the Friday, November 29 show.
Rian’s step-mom Paula, who runs the Gleeson School of Drama, filmed him playing the accordion and reading a six verse poem she wrote – and he was delighted to be called to Dublin to audition recently.
On Tuesday Paula received a call from researchers on the show that Rian, son of Caroline and Michéal, had made the cut.
Now, he’s waiting to find out which book he will review and says that he is so excited.
“When I found out I just wanted to go and hug everyone and I was jumping up and down,” Rian told the Killarney Advertiser yesterday (Thursday).
“When my mom found out she started crying! It’s a day I’ll never forget.”
At the Dublin auditions, Rian, who is in First Class in Gaelscoil Faithleann, brought his favourite book ‘My Golden Ticket: A Journey into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory’ and later found out it is also presenter Ryan Tubridy’s favourite book.
“I love watching it but thought it’d be way better if I was on it,” Rian added. “I am very excited and a bit nervous and when Ryan retires I want to take his job!”
