Organisers of the annual Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle breathed a sigh of relief earlier this week when Kerry County Council announced that the N71 would reopen on Tuesday evening – just in time for tomorrow’s Ring of Kerry Cycle.
The road between Torc Waterfall and the carpark for Dinis Cottage has been closed since 24 June to facilitate emergency repairs to a section of the retaining wall and road at Dinis.
Works were completed three days ahead of schedule following the successful completion of remedial works at Dinis.
The council praised the contractor for having the works competed in time for the charity event.
“Kerry County Council would like to acknowledge the efficiency of the contractor in completing the work ahead of schedule. The council was anxious that the works would be completed ahead of the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle on Saturday next and is pleased that this has been achieved,” said a council statement.
