Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra, Rathmore, is the latest in the country to be presented with the Healthy Ireland ‘Health Promoting Schools’ flag.

The flag is presented by the HSE to schools as an acknowledgement of their work in improving the health of their school communities.

It was a combined effort by the Health Promoting Schools coordinators, Anne Cronin and Kate McCarrick, other staff members, Parents’ Council members, students and management, helped the school achieve the recognition.

The redevelopment of the school football field, basketball courts, walkway, and courtyard area were part of the project.

Artistic displays and an outdoor mural were also created by students, designed to promote positive well-being throughout the school.

“It emphasises healthy eating within the school and promotes healthy eating amongst the student population,” Principal Denis Kerins said.
