Killarney Men’s Shed in association with the Kerry Age Friendly Project and Kerry County Council have delivered planters and flowers to many residential centres in Kerry including several in the Killarney area.
Killarney Men’s Shed have been working on the project for the last month.

They took it in turns to prepare the boxes, with some doing the planting and others painting them, to allow for social distancing.

The flowers, which are planted in fish boxes donated by Spillane’s Seafood in Fossa, were delivered to Killarney Nursing Home, the Community Hospital and St Columbanus Home in Killarney. Another selection of flower boxes were delivered to St Joseph’s Nursing Home in Killorglin.

“We did some similar for Killarney Municipal Council a few years ago and those flowers were placed on High St and other places in the town centre,” George Kelly of Killarney Men’s Shed told the Killarney Advertiser. “We are thankful to Siobhan Griffin and Tony Taggart of the Council for the funding.”
