Local children received awards at Killarney Sports & Leisure Centre for their participation in this year’s ‘Swim for All’ programme.

The Kerry Recreation and Sports Partnership programme, designed specifically for children with disabilities, is run in conjunction with the three local leisure centres in Killarney Sports & Leisure Centre, Tralee Regional Sports & Leisure Centre and Ballybunion Health & Leisure Centre. During 2019 the ‘Swim for All’ programme supported and encouraged 78 children, ranging from four to 15 years, and with different levels and range of abilities.

To celebrate the end the successful year the children were presented with certificates and medals by the leisure centre staff followed by some treats and tea and coffee for the parents.

“It is great to see so many children throughout Kerry benefitting from this programme in so many ways and it is a joy to witness their progression in swimming,” Sinead Egan, Programme Facilitator with Kerry Recreation and Sports Partnership, said.

“This programme is only made possible through the positive collaborative work established between the leisure centres and Kerry Recreation & Sports Partnership.”

A new programme will commence during 2020. For more information please contact Sineád Egan at swimforallkerry@gmail.com or alternatively KRSP at 066 7184776.
