ACTIVE LIFESTYLE: Holy Cross Mercy School, Killarney held their annual ‘Active Week’ and were presented with their Health Promoting Schools Flag.
This week, pupils and staff at Holy Cross Mercy School, Killarney held their annual ‘Active Week’.
All classes participated in a variety of daily activities such as football, dancing, orienteering, pitch and putt, athletics and circuit training. New to this year’s ‘Active Week’ programme was trampolining while the highlight of the week was the presentation of the Health Promoting Schools’ Flag.
Gavin White, Kerry Senior Football Team Captain, Amanda Brosnan, Kerry Ladies Football Captain and Anne Culloty (Health Promotion Officer with the HSE), joined pupils, Ursula Coffey (Principal) and staff, to celebrate the award and to launch the flag.
“The flag recognises the ongoing promotion of physical health, mental health and well-being in the school through in-school activities, after-school activities, school-community links and participation in a wide variety of national programmes and initiatives,” Ursula Coffey said.
