Many talented local photographers are ‘snap happy’ as they prepare for their annual show of work in Killarney town next week.

Members of the Killarney Camera Club, which has been in existence for over 20 years, will display their latest landscapes, portraits, black and white and abstract work in Killarney Library.

The opening night takes place on Thursday, September 5, at 6.30pm with tea/coffee and treats, and the exhibition will run until the end of the month.
“We’ll have around 20 pieces on display for the exhibition,” Nikki told the Killarney Advertiser. “There’s actually quite a good range.”

Currently there’s up to 40 club members who meet every second Thursday in the Killarney Heights Hotel. The group enjoy days out together or with other clubs, have guests speakers in twice a year and enter their talented work into competitions.
“Everybody enjoys the competitions as it helps to improve their skills.”

And new members are welcome to join when the club starts back on September 12 – even if you’ve no experience – you just have to have enthusiasm, a digital camera of some sort and a keen eye. They’re also planning an open evening on September 26 at the hotel where last year’s club ‘Photographer of the Year’ John Keane will give a talk.
