Our very own Dylan has won first prize live on TV yesterday morning (Thursday) for his stunning and creative Christmas portrait.

Up and coming photographer Dylan Clifford (24), from Arbutus Grove, had entered the Ireland AM Camera Club photography competition and yesterday won a Canon camera.

Just after 10am live on air, presenter Mark Cagney and judge and professional photographer Jenny McCarthy, named Dylan, who was up against two others, as the winner.

Dylan, who takes many of the Killarney Advertiser’s photos, had entered once before in Christmas in 2016 – but came runner up.

Jenny said that Dylan’s work stood out and complimented his photo, describing it as ‘well-lit and well composed’.

“I found out Tuesday morning that I was a finalist,” Dylan told the Killarney Advertiser.

“It felt pretty good as I didn’t expect to win.”

He added that he’d like to thank his mom Ann Marie for encouraging him to enter the competition.

And kind-hearted Dylan now plans to give his prize to his little sister Mia (6) as she has also caught the photography bug.

“I’m going to give the camera to my sister for Christmas as she is getting into photography. She’ll make more use of it than me – I have my own cameras.”
