Members of the Killarney Soroptimist Club handed over €5,170 to two well deserving groups.

In March, at their annual pancake morning, a cheque for €1000 was presented to Adapt Kerry from the proceeds of the church gate collection in 2018.

Then, on Tuesday April16, a cheque for €4,170 was presented to St Mary of the Angels, St John of God Kerry Services, the proceeds of the annual pancake morning which was held in March.

“This money is to be used for the hydrotherapy unit in St Mary of the Angels,” Sheila Casey from the Soroptimist Club said.

“This unit is used by the 74 residents and the 50 students of St Francis Special Needs School, which is located in the grounds of St Mary of the Angels.

“Some of these monies will be used towards the hydrotherapy pool and for the purchase of a sound system to enhance the service user’s hydrotherapy experience by promoting relaxation before, during and after the pool session.”

The pool has been in operation since 1975, which was a very innovative for that time period, she added.

“We, the Killarney Soroptimists, are delighted to be able to assist them with upgrading their unit,” she said.
