FESTIVALGOERS throughout Kerry and the South of France will be tapping their feet to the delightful sounds of The Gleneagle Concert Band this summer.

The band will be performing at all the big festivals in the county in the next couple of months – Killarney’s 4th of July Festival, Puck Fair and The Rose of Tralee.

Band manager Ciaran Lynch said: “The 4th of July Festival in Killarney will certainly be a highlight for us as we will be joined by our good friends in The Blarney Brass and Reed Band for a massed band performance at 7pm. This performance takes place on Main Street and we encourage everyone to come along to hear how fantastic the big band sound really is.”

The Gleneagle Concert Band will also be undertaking a joint concert tour with the Blarney Brass and Reed Band to the South of France in August. The Killarney based community band now in its 36th year will perform two joint concerts in Monaco and Cannes under the baton of band conductor Vincent Condon.

This will be the band’s sixth foreign tour following on from visits to Holland in 1985, Germany in 1989, Austria in 2002, Paris in 2007 and Lisbon in 2013.

Band conductor Vincent Condon commented: “The band will perform two open-air concerts in the centre of Monaco and Cannes. This will be a wonderful spectacle as between our own band and the Blarney Brass and Reed Band there will be close to 100 musicians performing on stage.”
