The much needed Killarney to Farranfore outer relief road is still over four years away – despite central government earmarking €500,000 for the project last month.

At last week’s Killarney Municipal District meeting, Cllr Donal Grady asked for an update on the project.

In their reply, the meeting was told that the project had moved from the Concept and Feasibility stage to the Statutory Processes stage.

“Tenders were received in December 2019 and are currently being assessed with a view to appointing a successful consultant in February 2020, subject to Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). This commission will run for 4.5 years, by which time it is hoped that the Statutory Consent will have been obtained for the scheme, thereby enabling the land to be acquired and the detailed design assessed.”
