The art work of two creative Killarney school pupils has been chosen to feature in next year’s Kerry County Council Road Safety Calendar.

The month of January will feature the a safety message from Aoibhe O’Donoghue from Sixth Class in Lissivigeen National School, while Evan Cahill, a Sixth Class pupil from Kilgobnet National School will have his work represented for the month of March.

The pandemic did not stop Kerry County Council’s annual Road Safety Calendar Art Competition from taking place this year with over 500 entries received from primary school children around the county, demonstrating their artistic skills and their ambition to highlight the important message of road safety.

In previous years, the winning students would be invited to attend at County Buildings, Tralee and prizes would be presented by the Mayor of Kerry.

As this was not possible this year, in the interests of health and safety for all, Council staff arranged for prize boxes to be delivered this week to the school of each of the winning pupils.

Mayor Cllr Patrick Connor-Scarteen expressed congratulations to all the winners and the participants and a big thank-you to the teachers and students who took part this year.
