The Killarney Advertiser fantasy football league is officially the biggest league of its kind in the county. The Brian James-sponsored competition, which was launched for the first time in 2017, now has 925 participants, more than any other league in Kerry.
With monthly prizes up for grabs and a €250 voucher for the overall winner in May, The Killarney Advertiser League (formerly Serie A-dvertiser) has quickly established itself as the most popular fantasy competition around.
Hugh Maguire from Ardfert was the latest Manager of the Month recipient and he picked up his €50 voucher at Brian James (Main Street, Killarney) last weekend. Hugh beat off stiff competition from David O’Neill and Alexander Kelly to claim the top spot with Leicester striker Jamie Vardy contributing 40 points as captain in the final gameweek of October.
Speaking at the prizegiving, Adam Moynihan of the Killarney Advertiser congratulated Hugh on his achievement and also expressed his gratitude to Brian O’Shea of Brian James, who has sponsored the competition since Day 1.
“We really can’t thank Brian James enough for their continued sponsorship,” he said. “The fantastic prizes on offer are a huge part of why our league has grown to be so big in such a short period of time.”
