Garda watchdog GSOC have this week confirmed that it has launched an investigation into allegations that extra names were added to the supplementary electoral register.
A large numbers of forms, involving up to 200 voters, or voters who were changing address, were stamped by a garda without the presence of the voters, as required, it has been alleged.
It’s believed the incident happened in the Killarney area.
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission said it was aware of the matter, but would not comment any further.
“GSOC has launched a public interest investigation into these alleged allegations,” a GSOC spokesperson confirmed to the Killarney Advertiser this week.
However, they were unable to confirm if the investigation is centred on the Killarney area.
An Garda Síochána also this week confirmed that they too are investigating.
