It will be music to the ears of the public tomorrow (Sunday) as members of the Kingdom Gospel Choir hold a charity concert at the Friary Church.

Founded in 2018 by Killarney woman Caoimhe Lynch, the choir was set up to promote gospel-style singing in Killarney and to have a purpose like raising much needed funds for local charities.

This year’s chosen charity is the South Kerry branch of Multiple Sclerosis following on from last year’s concert that raised funds for the Kerry Cork Cancer Link Bus.

The choir is made up of three branches, the adult Kingdom Gospel Choir, The Kingdom Youth Choir and The Kiddie’s Kingdom Gospel Choir. Each branch of the choir will perform individually before they all come together for the grand finale.

Founder Caoimhe Lynch is currently studying in Dublin but her mother Siobhan helps look after the day-to-day running of the choir in her absence.

“Caoimhe saw a gospel choir in Galway and saw something like this was lacking in Kerry,” Siobhan told the Killarney Advertiser. “We have been practicing once a week for the last 10 weeks, it’s special as it caters for all age groups, we have members aged five to 90.”

Tomorrow’s concert gets underway at 3pm and admission is by donation only.
