There are two Kerry GAA records at risk this weekend.

The first is our own Colm Cooper’s record as the highest scorer at championship level. His current tally of 23 goals and 283 points is likely to be surpassed on Sunday.

Mayo’s Cillian O’Connor just three points behind. Cooper’s record was achieved over 85 championship appearances while O’Connor took just 50 matches to reach his top score.

Kerry have not lost a home championship match since Cork won the 1995 Munster title and given the intense rivalry that exists between Kerry and Mayo and the unpredictable nature of games this Sunday could well mark the end of that 24 year-old record.

Mayo have defeated Kerry twice already this season, once in Tralee and once in Croke Park.  The last time they met in the championship in August 2017, Mayo were also the victors while the previous championship meeting resulted in draw.
