FUNDRAISER: Launching the Castlerosse Golf Club Charity Open Weekend in aid of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team were Mick Clifford (Captain), Sally Filby (Lady Captain), Una Moroney (Vice-Captain), Sean Murphy (Lord Kenmare’s Restaurant sponsors), Ella Gzybowska (Operations Manager Castlerosse Hotel) with Michael Finn, Alan Wallace and Tom Murphy of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team.

Castlerosse Golf Club will host a new weekend-long competition to raise funds for Kerry Mountain Rescue Team today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday).

The Castlerosse Golf Club Charity Open Weekend will mark the first time that the club’s annual fundraiser is a two-day event and also it’s a first that both the ladies and men’s teams collaborated to run an joint fundraiser.

Kerry Mountain Rescue Team was the charity nominated by ladies captain Sally Filby. In the past the club has supported Pieta House and Adapt Kerry Women’s Refuge.

“When you play golf at Castlerosse you are surrounded by these beautiful mountains,” Sally said.

“They are so intrinsically linked to this area and part of the fabric of where we are. Many of my friends and members of the club walk in these mountains and we are all aware of the great work Kerry Mountain Rescue do. They don’t get any Government funding, apart from some grants and every business I approached wanted to support this event.”

Teams of three are invited to enter at the registration desk at the club on Saturday or Sunday. Non-golfers are welcome to attend too and can spectate at the event by making a donation to Kerry Mountain Rescue.
