Killarney Credit Union is encouraging children and schools in the South Kerry area to get fighting fit to claim victory in the 29th annual Credit Union Schools Quiz.
Each year around 25,000 schoolchildren take part in the quiz nationally and it culminates in a fiercely fought national final at the RDS, Dublin.
The quiz begins with a knock-out stage at local level, organised by Killarney Credit Union to take place at INEC, Gleneagle Hotel on February 2. There will be some fantastic prizes for the winning teams-of-four, who will also progress to the regional knockout stage in early late February or early March.
The winning teams from this stage will then make it through to the grand final in April. All teams will have their eye on the prize with a total of €4,000 up for grabs for the overall winning schools.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for schools in the South Kerry area to nurture a culture of partnership among students, and we would really encourage all schools to get registered for the 2020 event,” Karena McCarthy, Youth Officer, Killarney Credit Union said.
“A core focus of this event for children is to gain experience at teamwork to help equip them with the skills necessary for successful teamwork in the future.
“In the past few years, we have seen schools from South Kerry progress to national level and we hope that again this year we will see this happen. In 2019, Lissivigeen National School came in joint 3rd in the U13 age category. They beat off stiff competition at the grand final in the RDS.”
Registration for the 2020 Schools Quiz is now open and primary schools in the South Kerry area will be sent a registration pack in the coming week with application details. If your school has not received an application form and is interested in applying, please contact Karena on 064-66331344 or email@example.com.
