The death of local man Thomas Carton in Killarney last week is the latest in a series of tragedies to hit the family in recent years.

Mr Carton’s  body was discovered by Gardai in a house on Torc Terrance last Wednesday night (November 20).

Mr Carton’s father Eugene passed away in July, his brother Eoghan died in tragic circumstances in 2007, his niece Emly died at a young age in July 2017, while he was also predeceased by his partner Caroline five years ago.

Gardaí in Killarney are continuing to investigate the cause of his death, but have ruled out foul play “for the moment”.

“We are particularly anxious to hear from people who may have seen or spoken to Thomas in recent days or who may have any information whatsoever in relation to his death,” Superintendent Flor Murphy told the Killarney Advertiser. “At the moment there is nothing to suggest foul play but we need to examine the full facts.”

Mr Carton’s funeral took place on Monday in St Mary’s Cathedral and he was laid to rest afterwards in Aghadoe Cemetery.

He is survived by his mother Mai, his sisters Katherine and Aine, and his twin brother Jimmy.

Anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
