A route heavily used by pedestrians is now safer thanks to Council works this week.
Overlaying work on the footpaths outside Aldi, at the Countess Road/Park Road junction stretching from the entrance to Park Drive to Countess Bridge, began on Tuesday night.
Cllr Donal Grady, from the Killarney Municipal Distract, whoallocated a large portion of his councillor allocation funds for the works welcomed the move, saying it was long overdue.
“It’s important to get that footpath done,” Cllr Grady said. “It’s heavily used by pedestrians and it was a safety issue for children attending St Oliver’s National School, Ballycasheen. The Council took a hedge away there two to three years ago and left it in a state. That just shows how town council is missed in Killarney.”
