FINAL CLEAN UP: The last Tidy Towns clean up of the year was a success on Monday evening last with lots of volunteers out in their droves helping to tidy up Killarney town.
Monday night was the 19th and final Tidy Towns Clean Up for this year’s campaign.
The offer of pizza and refreshment sponsored by Killarney Brewery brought out 50 volunteers, the local group’s largest turn out.
Muckross Road from The Golden Gates to Hegarty’s shop was the focus on the night, explained Johnny McGuire.
“All footpaths were brushed and cleaned, over 25 bags of dirt and litter were collected,” he said.
“All grass verges were edged and cleaned. Weeds and briers were cut back on vacant site next to Old Weir B&B. Once again, great work was done by all the volunteers and the food and refreshments was greatly appreciated by all the volunteers.”
The group were very appreciative of the Killarney Brewery, Kerry Drains, Easi Clean and Killarney Municipal, he added.
