KNOWN to many as Father Tidy Towns, Archdeacon Michael Murphy has been key to Kerry’s successful Tidy Towns wins over the decades, ensuring Sneem and Kenmare as well as Killarney won gold medals in the national awards.
Along with his fellow members of the Killarney Tidy Towns committee, he is highlighting the benefits of the National Tidy Towns Competition as it celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. “The competition was first held in 1958 to honour the tidiest towns and villages in Ireland,” said Fr Murphy.
