Killarney soprano Mary Culloty O’Sullivan is planning a festive fundraising night of songs and poetry in town this week.
‘Christmas Melodies’, an evening of traditional Christmas carols, poetry, Irish ballads and love songs, will be held on this Friday night,
All are invited to attend and there’s charge in on the night, Mary explained.
However, afterwards donations can be made to Living Links, a charity which provides information and support to those bereaved by suicide.
Mary, a classically trained soprano, will sing on the night.
Also her newly formed group ‘Finding Your Voice’, will be performing publicly for the very first time.
Mary, who lost her brother-in-law Denis O’Sullivan to suicide eight years ago, said she wanted to do something in his memory and also to help others.
“I’m very aware of what people go through,” Mary told the Killarney Advertiser.
“This is in memory of him and others that have lost somebody. We know what they’re going through.”
Michael Egan from Tipperary, who founded Living Links, will also be in attendance on the evening and will say a few words, she added.
There’ll be spot prizes up for grabs on the night as well as refreshments served afterwards.
“It will be a wonderful social evening, a fabulous Christmas event leading into the festive period.”
