Storm Hanna had little effect on one local fundraiser in April – as €19k was raised for a local charity!
The Autism Golf Classic, held at Beaufort Golf Club on April 26, raised the staggering amount with the cheque handed over to SFSS Autism Parent Support Group in St Francis Special School.
“This year’s golf classic was phenomenal, raising little over €19,000. Even Storm Hannah didn’t take effect,” Brigitta Looney, one of the organisers said.
“Over 44 teams went out on the day. We are ever so grateful to all our golfers. Only for them we wouldn’t have a classic. Thanks to all our sponsors we had 39 greens, 31 tees, over 31 fabulous prizes for our live raffle that took place that evening.
First prize in the golf classic went to Beaufort Golf Club, second John Cogan, Cork, and
third Donie Broderick, Kilcummin. The top prize in the live raffle for two nights in the Parknasilla Resort and Spa went to John Donovan, Tureencahill, Gneeveguilla.
“All funds raised go to SFSS Autism Parent Support group, to help children in St Francis Special School gain private therapies such as speech and language therapy, music therapy resources etc. Each year we’re able to add children to our group, it’s great to see our group growing each year and watch the children thrive. Us parents and our children from SFSS Autism Parent Support Group would like to give huge thanks to all our sponsors and businesses that supported us, and have continually supported us annually. To our ticket sellers and those who supported the raffle, thank you. Without your continuous help and support this would not happen so thank you all kindly.”
