Neighbours, work colleagues and bikers have launched a €15,000 GoFundMe drive in an effort to re-home the Lissigiveen man whose house was destroyed by a fire last month.
Willie Herlihy, a well-known Killarney man and avid biker, recently suffered a devastating loss when his home was gutted by a fire. He lost everything in the blaze and is currently living in temporary Council accommodation.
His friends are trying to help him get re-established and have set up a fund, which has so far raised just over €2,000 with the aim of getting him back to his home.
“For those of you who know Willie you will know that he is a humble, honest, quiet and hardworking man and will probably kill us for setting up this fund but he has nothing and we cannot stand by and let him struggle at this stage of his life,” a spokesperson for Killarney Bikers told the Killarney Advertiser.
Willie is a fitter/welder at O’Carroll’s Engineering in Tiernaboul. He has helped many bikers purchase their first bike and is a regular supporter of events like BikeFest Killarney.
Donations can be made on GoFundMe: Rebuilding fund for Killarney Biker.
