The deadline for registering to vote in the upcoming General Election is 5pm today (Wednesday).
Kerry County Council is reminding the public to check that they are registered to vote on Saturday, February 8.
The relevant form for the Supplementary Register of Electors (RFA2), which is available online and from public offices, must be signed and stamped by a member of An Garda Síochána and returned to the Register of Electors at Kerry County Council, County Buildings, Tralee by today.
Voters who were included in the Supplement to the Register of Electors for the local and European elections of May 2019 are registered for the General Election and do not need to take any action.
However, anyone who applied for inclusion on the Draft Register of Electors in the period since the elections of May 2019 is not automatically registered to vote in this General Election as the new Register of Electors does not come into effect until February 15, 2020, which is a date later than that on which the General Election will be held. Those voters must apply to be included on the Supplement to the Register of Electors on or before Wednesday, January 22.
