Culinary genius Chad Byrne has been named Head Chef of the Year at the annual Hotel and Catering Review Gold Medal Awards. Chad, who is the Head Chef at The Brehon, accepted the prestigious award at a lavish ceremony at Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny.

The well-respected chef is one of the minds behind the innovative Chef Collaboration project, which is aimed at developing (and retaining) young talent.

There was also cause for celebration for employees and management at The Brehon’s much-loved spa as the Angsana was named Ireland’s Best Four Star Hotel Spa Experience.

ESPA at The Europe was awarded Ireland’s Best Five Star Hotel Spa Experience, while The Great Southern Hotel took home the prize for Ireland’s Best Hotel Breakfast. Ard na Sidhe Country House by Caragh Lake won Ireland’s Best Country House and Guesthouse Experience.
