LAST night guests and friends of the Irish music and dance show Celtic Steps were greeted with a special surprise when they arrived at the Killarney Race Course to find the show transformed into a spectacular open-air theatre with the breath-taking scenery of the Killarney mountains as the backdrop. Tonight the group will take to the open-air stage once again to celebrate the arrival of the Summer Solstice.
Some of Kerry’s most celebrated musicians and dancers took to the open-air stage for the very first time in their six seasons last night. David Rea of Celtic Steps said: “We have always wanted to combine the charm of traditional Irish music and dance with the natural beauty of our surroundings of Killarney so when the Summer Solstice coincided with such wonderful weather, we decided to make it happen. We can’t wait to do it all again tonight.”
Highlights of the night included a stunning rendition of the Irish classic Raglan Road, as well as U2’s famous ballad With or Without You, the famous polka set, the traditional Irish Brush Dance and scenes of sensational freestyle Irish dancing by world champion Irish dancers.
