Talented local musician Cathal Flaherty dropped his latest single to widespread acclaim this past week with the video already racking up tens of thousands of views on Facebook and YouTube.
Cathal enlisted the help of Kieran Healy (electric guitar), Patrick O’Connor (drums) and Brendan O’Connor (piano, keyboard, synth, producer) to record All We Need at Little Dylan Studios. The song has been warmly received by fans at home and abroad and, speaking to the Advertiser, Cathal said he was “delighted” with the reaction so far.
“I think the video has 35,000 views,” he said, “and the song was sent off to radio on Monday so we’ll see how that goes.”
The video, which was recorded and edited by Lucas Machowski, shows Cathal singing and playing guitar while getting doused in colourful paint.
“Because this is more of an upbeat song I had the idea of using a lot of paint. I changed my mind a few times about that to be honest.”
While the rest of us were preparing for the Beast from the East, Cathal was already dealing with a different kind of cold.
“I didn’t realise how cold the paint was going to be,” he admitted. “I might not look like I was in a lot of pain, but I was. It turned out well in the end.”
The single is available to download on iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify. Simply search ‘Cathal Flaherty’ and you can watch the video right down at the end of this article!
