Biodiversity Week is just around the corner, starting next week Monday 21st May and it’s all taking place in Killarney National Park. Here’s all the info you need to know!

Location: Killarney House and Gardens

Launch of Biodiversity Week (Monday, May 21 @ 7pm)

  • Killarney Camera Club Photographic Exhibition: Celebrating 25 years of biodiversity in Ireland. Photographs of creatures great and small taken by local photographers
  • Cost: FREE. Exhibition on view in Killarney House from May 19-27

Gardening for Pollinators (Tuesday, May 22 @ 7pm)

  • Gardening for Pollinators with Niamh Ní Dhuill and Killarney Looking Good
  • Niamh advises on how to attract and encourage pollinators to your garden
  • Cost: FREE. No Booking Required. Adults must remain with children at all times

Swifts Walk/Talk (Wednesday, May 23 @ 7pm)

  • Talk and walk on the activities of swifts
  • Lynda Huxley of Swift Conservation Ireland tells us about the extraordinary lives of swifts
  • Cost: FREE. No Booking Required. Adults must remain with children at all times

The Bee’s Knees (Saturday, May 26 @ 4pm)

  • “The Bee’s Knees” with Beaufort Beekeepers Association, Ulrich Schraewer and Tuddy Clifford
  • Where does this saying come from? Does a queen bee lay 2000 eggs a day? Join us to find the answers and discover more about the fascinating world of the honey bee. As a treat you can get a glimpse on a working bee colony in our show hive. Cost: FREE. No Booking Required. Adults must remain with children at all times

Muckross Peninsula Walk (Friday, May 25 @ 2.30pm)

  • Enjoy a two-hour nature walk with Killarney National Park Ranger and Guides on the Muckross Peninsula

Family Fun Day (Saturday, May 19 & 26 @ 10am–2pm)

  • Join us for a day of wildlife family fun and discover the wildlife of Killarney National Park

Bat Walk (Tuesday, May 22 & Thursday, May 24 @ 8.30pm)

  • Enjoy a bat walk and talk with our National Park Education staff. Using bat detectors we can expect to hear different kinds of bats
