BREXIT is not about cutting off Northern Ireland from nearest neighbours, according to the DUP leader.
Speaking in Killarney today, Arlene Foster
said it was in Northern Ireland’s best interests to see the Republic of Ireland prosper.
The DUP leader was addressing the inaugural Killarney Economic Coherence in The Brehon Hotel along with a number of speakers including Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin.
“While we will always battle for our own national interests, we must also battle for our mutual interests,” she said.
Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin said the only credible means of addressing Northern Ireland’s economic needs post-Brexit was for it to become a special economic zone.
In an address to the Killarney Economic Conference today, he said such a designation “would threaten no one’s sovereignty”.
